Development of new products

From the very first step of developing a new chair, customers of BOCK benefit from the use of state-of-the-art technology, for example rapid prototyping, which is used continuously in the new, recently expanded design and development department.
Complete chair kits or complex parts are initially designed on PC in 2D and 3D and then these designs are often built into models within the model shop, being constructed to exacting standards by processes such as vacuum casting. The digitized data from these samples are then often transferred on-line to the CAD stations. Samples, which are needed for photography during the early stages in developments, are constructed from special material.
Special test programs such as FEM can be used to simulate tests results while the development is still on the computer – this will indicate likely areas of stress with bending and fatigue limits. Testing of developments after tooling is finished can be performed in the attached “in house” test area, to simulate DIN or similar standards.
BOCK 3 offers the following service:
- 3D digitizing
- 2D- and 3D design with Pro/Engineer (Wildfire)
- CAD data transfer
- preparation of drawings
- FEM simulations by NASTRAN
- samples for visual and operating models made of plastic or metal
- construction of fixtures (e. g. cooling or drilling jigs)
- Rapid Prototyping
- vacuum moulding
- tool shop (e. g. foam tools)
